Calendar

Accessible from the homepage, your calendar contains all date-specific points of interest for you. You can use the calendar to view at a glance all of your scheduled events, add new events, and share schedules with other TCP users.

Public Calendars

Not only can you have calendars for yourself, you can share calendars with other users: either by marking them as public (which allows anyone to add themselves to the calendar), or by manually adding that user on the calendar admin page. In either case, any other users added to the calendar will be able to view the calendar and add their own events. Great for organizing a lab's time!

Notifications

The Notifications system can serve as a replacement for emails, or just as a convenient place to put reminders regarding LIMS information. Many notifications are automatically generated (eg service request completed, amendment accepted), but you can also generate your own notifications manually, for yourself or other users. You can even attach a particular cage or mouse to a notification, allowing you to point another user to that cage or mouse without them having to search for that barcode.

There are many ways to create and send a new notification:

  • Go to Home > Notifications panel link > New Notification
  • In top menu, go to Cage > Cage Actions > Cage Notification
  • Go to View Cage page (or View Mouse page) > Send Notification
  • From the Cage/Mouse Hold Section > Send Notification

Where to Find this Feature: Home Page > Notifications

iCal Download

If you use some other program with a calendar component (Outlook, Google Calendar, etc), you can download a file containing all of your events for import into that program. iCal is a standard event format that can be read by most other calendar programs. The link is right on your calendar page!

Where to Find this Feature: Home Page > Updates > My Calendar > iCal Download

Tasks

The Task system allows the system to automatically create a work list for our staff by dividing requests into small steps that need to be done. You can also use tasks for yourself or for your lab, to create reminders of time-sensitive things to do.

Weaning Calendar

There is a separate calendar to show upcoming weanings in the next 4 weeks. It can allow you to view weanings and highlights days which are going to be particularly full. As weanings are performed, they will disappear from the calendar, allowing you to effectively manage your workflow. Upcoming weanings will also appear directly on your homepage. Today's weanings will be highlighted, as will overdue weanings.

Where to Find this Feature: Home Page > Updates > Weaning Calendar
