Lab Management Improvements
For lab managers and PIs, we have a flexible reporting
system which allows us to very quickly add reports on nearly any
data you could ask for. We have some reports already available,
but if what you need isn't available, just let us know! We've also
added several more powerful reporting pages, which can be
indispensable for tracking your cage usage at TCP.

Reports
As a lab manager, it's important that you be able to
monitor and understand exactly what is going on in your lab.
LIMS can be a phenomenal resource in helping with this task by
presenting your lab's information using an easy, powerful
interface. In LIMS, since we are trying to store much more
accurate information, we have designed a powerful way of viewing
that information in the form of our Reporting module. You are
able to view a variety of reports which instantly summarize
various data points from your lab. Reports are divided into
categories, such as Colony or Finance, and are downloadable as
an Excel file for your convenience.
Reports come with the ability to filter and sort on any of
the data displayed in the report. This allows you to quickly
tailor the report exactly to your needs, whether it's a broad
summary or an in-depth analysis.
If you have an idea for a report that would be useful and
you don't see it in the existing set, please contact us! We've
designed reports so that they are incredibly easy to create,
meaning that we can usually have a new report ready to go almost
immediately, without having to wait for a scheduled service
downtime window.

Lab Member Usage
Generating monthly reports detailing your lab members'
cage usage can be time-consuming. Luckily, LIMS is happy to
assist in this common task. The Lab Member Usage page gives an
incredibly quick, and yet very detailed, view of the cage usage
by each of your lab members, for an entire AUP and more than a
month at a time. It generates a running tally of the cages
active each day, an average for the whole period displayed, and
it's even colour-coded for increases and decreases! This makes
it easy to monitor and identify large swings in cage numbers
without having to refer to any paper records or manual searches.
LIMS also includes a simple graph of your whole lab's cage
usage over time, to give you a quick snapshot of where your
numbers are in a historical perspective. It includes less detail
than the usage report, but covers a much wider time range.

Cage Inventory
For more detail on your lab's colony, each Mouseline and
each AUP also have Inventory tabs which allow lab managers to
drill down and see specifically what cages each lab member is
using. This can be useful to identify members who need help in
managing their colony numbers and for ensuring that your
research is progressing as expected.

Unscanned Cages
Concerned about your cage numbers? We have a simple but
powerful feature which can help you ensure that you're not being
charged for cages which aren't actually being used. The homepage
now includes a "Cages Unscanned in 14 Days" stat. If that number
starts to creep up, you can click on it to get a listing of the
unscanned cages. In some cases, these cages may have been
mistakenly left unterminated. Now you can quickly catch that
situation before unwanted charges are accumulated.

Mouse Inventory
For more detail on your lab's colony, this graph allows
lab managers to drill down and see the specific genotypes and
sexes of mice that are in their colony. This can be useful to
identify members who need help in managing their colony numbers
and for ensuring that your research is progressing as expected.
